Longtime Bollywood beauty Hema Malini stars opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Raveena Tandon in Puri Jagganadh’s Bbuddah … Hoga Tera Baap this weekend, but it seemed she spent more time talking about her two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana, and whether Aishwarya Rai is worthy of snatching the “Dream Girl” title away from her.
The veteran actress and wife to Dharmendra fielded questions about why her younger daughter, Ahana, has not risen up on Bollywood’s escalators just like Esha Deol (Dhoom). Yet, after waiting it out for some time, Hema Malini was pleased to report that Ahana is ready to pursue acting gigs, so long as the right roles come along to help foster her other ambitions.
“Ahana does lots of things -- that’s the problem with her. She is a fashion designer, and she is writing some scripts. Then she also gets acting offers,” Hema Malini told the Indian press. “She has decided that, only if she really likes something, then she will take it up. She doesn't want to do the regular, commercial stuff. But now she is open to acting.”
Two years Esha Deol’s junior, Ahana, who is a trained Bharat natyam dancer, reportedly wants to take on the director’s chair. She hopes to earn a grip on the bullhorn with her new route in acting.
While Ahana has her site on the director’s chair, Hema Malini seems ready to be moving on from her longstanding title as the Bollywood “Dream Girl.” And who, exactly, would be the heir? Well, former beauty queen and recently preggers Aisharya Rai Bachchan, of course!
Hema Malini said the wife of Abhishek Bachchan is most apt to carry the title and throne of “Dream Girl.”
“Every actress is more than a dream girl today. They are very high and way above it. Each and every girl is very beautiful,” she told the press. “They all have made a name for themselves, especially Aishwarya. I will give the title to her.”
Yet, Hema Malini said the “Dream Girl" throne will not come cheaply.
“Aishwarya will have to pay me a crore for the precious label I have carried with dignity all these years,” she lightly told the press.
In returning to the big screen after appearances in Sadiyaan and Aarakshan, Hema Malini is thrilled to be sharing space with Big B in Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap. The last time both starred in a film together was in the 2006 production of Baabul.
“I’m playing Amitjis wife in the film, but we are separated, and it’s basically about how later we meet and everything is revived. It’s a nice role. I accepted it because it’s always nice to keep coming back on screen,” the actress, who also starred in films such as Sholay, Veer-Zaara, and Satte Pe Satta told the media.
Releasing on July 1st and also starring Prakash Raj, Minnisha Lamba, and Sonal Chauhan, the A B Corp production of Buddha … Hoga Tera Baap will compete against Aamir Khan’s Delhi Belly for box office supremacy.
