Interview: Aditya Narayan

vikram_bhatt_20100320Just a few days earlier, Shaapit director Vikram Bhatt said he does not care whether or not he has a love interest in his life. In an act of blatant contrariness, his leading star in Shaapit echoed quite the opposite sentiments when he was interviewed by the press during his recent publicity campaign of the film.

While both director and actor are more than 30 years and a whole world of experiences apart, Aditya Narayan told the press he is not entirely gung-ho about finding a significant other. All he really wanted this past weekend was a date — and, despite the rumors of being romantically connected to his female co-star, Shweta Agarwal was apparently not in the running to be on Aditya’s right arm.

“Find me a girlfriend whom I can take to the premiere of Shaapit,” the 22-year-old actor who headlines the film was quoted as telling the press. “Koi bhi chal jayegi (anyone who is willing to go).”

Well, okay, perhaps not just anyone, he confessed. Indeed, Aditya did say he would prefer a member of the opposite sex who would potentially date him to deal with a few of his quirky personality traits, such as his obsession with creativity.

“On a serious note, I do not have any major dangerous demands that will scare people, (but) I am a very abnormal person and I want someone who can tolerate me,” he frankly told one media outlet. “There are times when I sleep at 6:30 in the evening and get up at 1:30 (in the morning). I stay up late at night composing music, watching films and playing games. So when I tell people about my routine, I think they do not really believe me. I need someone who can understand me.”

Part of that understanding means not only putting up with his thirst for creativity but also in dealing with his workout routines – and his future mate can thank Shaapit for getting Aditya on a steady workout regimen.

“Since the last two years, I have become quite fitness-conscious,” he announced to the press. “So I’d like someone who is inclined toward fitness or would like to be fit.”

Alas, being fit and putting up with his creative demands is not enough for Aditya. He also wants a love that has the same culinary acumen as he does. As a student in London, the young actor learned how to cook on his own, and he would love it if a girl knew her way around the kitchen.

“Apart from having interest in films and music, if the girl happens to be a good cook, then that will be an added advantage as we can exchange recipes,” he told reporters.

While he is still in his kitchen conjuring up the right elements of his dream girl, Aditya may have found the right recipe for success in the thespian department, as his just-released film of Shaapit is garnering decent reviews and should help the 22-year-old land some major leading roles in upcoming Bollywood flicks. There is no way he cannot love that, even if his director in Shaapit opts to remain single.
