Thrilling car chases, hot women, catchy music, and a thriller-based plot. Sounds like the ultimate guy movie. Indeed, the upcoming release of Prince has all of those elements, and no one could be happier about that than the film’s lead actor, Vivek Oberoi.
In what he describes as the role of a lifetime, Oberoi said he was on Cloud 9, thanks to landing a dream job as the lead actor of a high-adrenaline action thriller.
“The film has been a dream-come-true for me. I can proudly say that, by far, it has been one of the best experiences of my life.” Oberoi told reporters this week as he promoted the film. “I have always yearned to do a fast-paced action thriller with slick values and an entertaining script. In each of these aspects, Prince has far exceeded my expectations.”
And while the film has surpassed Oberoi’s standard for what he would constitute as a good film, he also stated why audiences should feel the same way. Specifically, the up-and-coming actor who gained the public’s eye in Kurbaan said Prince has a lot of substance attached to the thrilling action sequences. With that, Oberoi says Prince is more than just some lame wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am flick where audiences can proverbially turn off their respective brains and just watch a lot of hot women walking around while objects are blowing up everywhere.
“The biggest advantage of Prince is that it has a great story at heart — an interesting screenplay full of twists and turns, and a fresh premise,” the actor told a reporter. “It is not mindless action in isolation. The awesome music is yet another bonus.”
The three beautiful women, Aruna Shields, Nandana Sen and Neeru Singh, all play mysterious characters in the film, each adding to the film’s eye-catching, heart-pounding suspense by claiming to be “Maya.”
Of course, Oberoi himself has done all he could to make the film as intense as possible, including enduring a rigorous workout regimen in order to pull off the many stunts he personally performed during the shooting of Prince.
“It took me five months of rigorous training to be able to pull off those phenomenal stunts all by myself without using a body-double,” he informed the press. “The stunts and action sequences in the film are surely going to set your heart racing.”
With the combination of mystery, eye-candy, mind-boggling stunts, suspenseful action, a twisted plot and substantive story, Oberoi believes director Kookie Gulati found the perfect formula for the ultimate Bollywood thriller flick.
“Prince is more in the full-on entertainer space of films like Race or Dhoom 2. The film is a great blend of global and local flavor,” Oberoi was quoted as saying by the press. “While the technology and action are truly international with a global look and packaging, at heart, Prince is an absolute Bollywood-style entertainer. Prince takes Bollywood action to another level altogether.”
Oberoi certainly hopes audiences agree, and many of those moviegoers will deliver their respective verdicts when the film hits the silver screen this weekend.
Directed by Gulati and also starring Isaiah, Sanjay Kapoor, Dalip Tahil and Rajesh Khattar, Prince opens worldwide on April 9th.
